Shayna's Story

1. To help with the transitions. It added emotional fillers. information of the baby and the height of the fall.
2. I think there wasn't a standup because then that would distract from the intenseness of the story.
3.I think the biggest surprise in the stroy is that Shayna lives and manages to give birth to her baby without any complications. A true miracle.
4. It ends with hope because you see Shayna all normal again, and playing with her little baby, talking about her miracle.

Steve Jobs will truly be remembered in the minds of many. Apple is a major part of the lives of many individuals around the U.S. and the world. I feel like he will be remembered for his work towards making Apple one of the most popular brands. His creation of Apple has left a great new discovery for the rest of the computer and technology business to build upon.  I was quite saddened by his death, and I am pretty sure many others are as well.

The White House Boys' CLub: president Obama has a woman problem.

It was noted that in all of the shots of Obama's office meetings, there were no women present. It was all men in black suits, with occasional enterances of Hillary Clinton and such. Many women with Obama feel like they are invisible and there voice is left unheard. They feel like there is sexism and they have no say what so ever.
I feel that this is somewhat an issue, but it's hyped up much more than it needs to be. I think Obama is just acting like normal men in office, and not intentionally trying to target girls or be sexist.

In Class Questions: 9-19-11

What were the rule of threes/filling the silence?
Waiting because people answer questions usually in 3 ways. First they tell you what you want to hear, then explain, then they blurt. He says that you should let the silence grow in order to get a more memorable answer. If you give them more time...you will get a better answer.

Explain the non-quetion question.
It is done gradually intstead of just putting a question on to them. Its by talking about normal observations or general things that help lead to the topic of interest.

Father Charged With Abuse For Tossing Son Off Boat

The article was about 35 year old Solan Steven Briles from CA, who was charged with child abuse for thrwoing his 7 year old son overboard on a Harbor Cruise. He was also said to have been drunk and got a misdemeanor for resisting an officer.
I thought the story was just messed up, what kind of father throws his own son overboard. I am just glad that the kid didn't get hurt, and hope that the Orange County District rules him guilty.
I think the story could fit the criterias of human interest, or unusuality. Because it's an emotional story, along with something out of the ordinary.

Therapy Dog Helps Social Needs Class (wlfi.com)

The article is about a dog and his trainer who go to schools to help special needs kids. The kids at Lafayette high school are very anxious to get to see the dog, Lilac. the kids had become calm prior to the entering of the dog, which is a good thing. They think that spending time with the dog relaxes them and teaches them morals. The kids believed that the dog makes them feel good. I believe that this is an amazing and interesting way for therapy. Dogs usually tend to have a great connection with children, and do make them happy. The ideas of Lilac and her owner should be adapted by more schools in the US. since they are working so well, why not share it with everyone.

OPENING ACTIVITY-video game article

I thought the article was interesting, but not true to me. Since, even though the constant gaming updates on facebook do get annoying, it's still not enough of a reason to want to switch to google +. I think that social networking sites have been trying way too hard, but they will most probably not be catching up to facebook anytime soon. The gaming function is used by many people, but the majority of people don't go on social networking sites to play games. I think google plus is just a failed attempt, and don't think it's gaming function is going to attract too many people.
